The 71st Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is scheduled from 26 June to 1 July 2022 in Lindau, Germany. A researcher from Academia Sinica is among the 611 young scientists from 91 countries invited to meet with about 30 Nobel Laureates. This year’s Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is dedicated to chemistry and will be the first on-site meeting since 2019 due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Nominees for the 2022 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting come from around 140 science academies, universities, foundations, and research-oriented companies. After a multi-stage international selection process, outstanding undergraduates, Ph.D. students, and post-docs under the age of 35 were selected to participate. This year, 46% of the selected scientists are women.

Dr. Febri Baskoro, a post-doctoral fellow at the Academia Sinica Institute of Chemistry, has been selected to participate this year. Dr. Baskoro is of Indonesian nationality and an alumnus of the Sustainable Chemical Science and Technology program of the Taiwan International Graduate Program (SCST-TIGP).

Since 1951, the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting has become a unique international forum for scientific debate and exchange between Nobel Laureates and young scientists. Its annual theme alternates between the three Nobel Prize scientific disciplines— Chemistry, Physics, and Physiology (Medicine). Every five years, an interdisciplinary meeting takes place. In 2017, Academia Sinica signed an MOU with the Lindau Council and the Lindau Foundation to become an academic partner that can nominate outstanding scientists to participate in the Lindau Meetings.
