This year, 2021, marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Taiwan Cultural Association. The Institute of Taiwan History, Academia Sinica and seven other educational and cultural institutions around Taiwan are co-hosting an academic conference titled “World • Enlightenment • Taiwan: Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Taiwan Cultural Association.”

The conference is scheduled to be held successively in Taipei, Kaohsiung, Tainan, and Taichung during October 14 to 22, 2021. Except the Institute of Taiwan History, Academia Sinica, the other co-hosts are: Kaohsiung Museum of History, National Museum of Taiwan History, National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Taiwan Historica, Taichung Ming Tai High School, Ataabu Cultural Foundation, and Department of History, National Chung Hsing University.

The event will explore how the association influenced Taiwan in aspects such as politics, society, economics, indigenous people, literature, environment, and idea. A companion online exhibition will also be launched through the platform of Open Museum, run by Center for Digital Culture, Academia Sinica at https://openmuseum.tw/.

The Taipei session will take place in October 14-15, 2021 at the First Conference Room on the third floor of the North Building for Humanities and Social Sciences, Academia Sinica.
