In early December, EMBO announced that Dr. Yen-Ping Hsueh and Dr. Suewei Lin of Academia Sinica were selected as EMBO Young Investigator and EMBO Global Investigator for 2020 respectively.

Dr.Yen-Ping Hsueh is an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Molecular Biology, her research program focuses on the predator-prey interactions between carnivorous fungi and nematodes. EMBO Director Maria Leptin welcomed the thirty new Young Investigators to the EMBO community and admired the scientific excellence they have demonstrated.

Dr. Suewei Lin’s research team use fruit fly as a model system to study brain development and function. They aim at understanding how motivations interact in the nervous system to guide appropriate behavioral decisions. By deciphering how motivation works at the fundamental level, Dr. Lin hopes to develop cures for these mental problems one day.

European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) is one of the most influential scientific organizations in the world. It is constituted by over 1800 leading researchers in Europe and other countries. EMBO’s mission is to cultivate talented scientists in Life Sciences. To support the career development of the next generation scientists in these nations and facilitate their interaction with researchers in Europe, EMBO had launched the EMBO Global Investigator Network in 2019.
