In September 2019, Academician Liang-Shih Fan was elected a Foreign Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE). Academician Fan is the first Taiwanese scientist to receive this honor, granted in recognition of his numerous achievements in international academic research.

Academician Fan currently serves in the Chemical Engineering Department of the Ohio State University, specializing in chemistry and engineering sciences. He has made outstanding contributions in the fields of fluidization, multiphase flow, and powder technology, which have far-reaching implications for the energy, environmental, chemical and petrochemical sectors.

Academician Fan has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the 67th Institute Lecture of AIChE, Alexander von Humboldt Research Award for U.S. Senior Scientists, and AIChE Particle Technology Forum Fluidized Processing Recognition Award. In addition, he was honored by being named as one of the “One Hundred Engineers in the Modern Era” by the AIChE. Academician Fan is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, as well as foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and Mexican Academy of Sciences. He was elected an Academia Sinica Academician during the 26th Convocation of 2006.

The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) was founded in 1987, and is that nation’s most distinguished body of engineers and engineer-scientists. Its membership comprises engineers from the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines dedicated to the promotion of engineering, related technologies, and their applications to achieve suitable solutions to issues of national importance.

Academician Liang-Shih Fan has been Elected Foreign Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering
