Founded in 1992, Singer Pur won first prize in the 1994 Deutscher Musikwettbewerb (the German national competition) and a year later the coveted Grand Prix for vocal ensembles at the international Tampere Music Festival in Finland, and was launched on its road to becoming the leading German-speaking vocal group. They discography consists of more than 23 CDs, several of which have received awards: two of them “Le Choc de l’Année” by the French music magazine “Le Monde de la Musique” and three more the ECHO Klassik Award in 2005, 2007 and 2011, considered the most prestigious classical music CD award in Europe. All members of Singer Pur admire Sting for his compositions and his lyrics as well. Just in time for the 20th anniversary of Singer Pur, they presented their first and until now only “pop production”. They chose Sting’s best-known songs like Fragile, Every breath you take, Englishman in NY, Fields of gold, They dance alone, to set them in colorful a-cappella versions.
