The Shang-Fa Yang Memorial Lecture is held yearly to honor Professor Shang-Fa Yang, a world-renowned scientist and a native of Taiwan. Professor Yang had made significant contributions in elucidating the biogenesis of plant hormone ethylene and also in the development and application ethylene in agricultural biotechnology. The Foundation aims to promote interactions and collaborations among scientists in plant and agricultural biotechnology both domestically and internationally. The Shang-Fa Yang Memorial Foundation sponsors a Lectureship by selecting a world-class scholar with influential impacts in agricultural science to deliver a public speech every year. The Foundation also rewards promising young scientists in memorizing Professor Yang’s spirits in educating and nurturing young scientists.
The awardee of the 14th SFY Lecture Awardee is Dr. Julian I. Schroeder, Distinguished Professor and Novartis Chair in Plant Sciences, University of California San Diego. His research focuses on plant abiotic stress signal regulation, including responses to elevated CO2, drought, salinity stress, and heavy metal stress. He was elected as a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and The German Leopoldina National Academy of Sciences and was awarded Alexander von Humboldt and Carl Friedrich von Siemens Research Prize, Stephen Hales Prize, American Society of Plant Biologists, Churchill Overseas Fellow, Cambridge University, UK and etc.
The awardees of the 11th SFY Outstanding Young Scientists Award are Dr. Kuan-Chen Cheng, Professor of Institute Food Science and Technology & Institute of Biotechnology, National Taiwan University and Dr. Ya-Fen Lin, Assistant Professor of Department of Agronomy, National Taiwan University. The award ceremony and honor lectures will be presenting on November 28th and November 30th. We look forward to your participation.
