Abstract:
Path integrals are defining features of wave optics and quantum mechanics. Dr. Ue-Li Pen present recent generalizations of classical lensing and more general path integrals in the framework of Picard-Lefschetz theory, interpreting wave/quantum phenomena as interferences of complex classical paths in real time. This picture provides a simple explanation for previously complex scintillation phenomena.
