Dr. Tzyy-Jen Chiou, Distinguished Research Fellow of the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center, was elected as a recipient of the 2022 ASPB Enid MacRobbie Corresponding Membership on August 5th, 2022. This award provides life membership and publications of the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) to distinguished plant biologists from outside the United States.

ASPB nominates the awardee and the award is conferred by election on the annual ballot from the members of the Society worldwide. Dr. Chiou has made groundbreaking contributions to plant physiology, particularly to our understanding of phosphorus nutrition. Her team made the seminal discovery that microRNAs play a central role in maintaining plant phosphate homeostasis.

ASPB is one of the most influential professional societies in plant biology; about 40% of its members reside outside the United States. It publishes top journals in the field, The Plant Cell, Plant Physiology and Plant Direct. ASPB is dedicated to promoting plant biology research and education; and actively engages in global issues related to plant sciences, such as food security, genetically modified food, biomass/biofuel production, and environmental sustainability.
