Dr. Hsiu-Ming Shih, Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at Academia Sinica, has received the 23^st Wang Min-Ning Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to the development of medical science and technology to improve the health of people in Taiwan. Dr. Shih has made enormous contributions to the exploration of Daxx protein in binding to SUMO-modified factors involved in various cellular functions, molecular basis of sumoylation regulation and the association of sumoylation/ubiquitination with human diseases. These results will greatly contribute to baric medical research and drug development.
