Dr. Shun-Jen Cheng (Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Institute of Mathematics) and Dr. Alice Lin-Tsing Yu (Distinguished Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Genomics Research Center) have won this year’s Academic Award by the Ministry of Education for the “Mathematics and Natural Sciences” category and the “Medical and Agricultural Sciences” category respectively. Each recipient will receive an honorary certificate and NT$600,000. The award ceremony will be held in December of this year.

The Academic Award was established by the Ministry of Education to encourage academic research and enhance academic standards. The award is bestowed upon citizens of the Republic of China who have been recognized by academia for their significant contributions or outstanding accomplishments in domestic academic research.
