Dr. Huang Shu-min, Distinguished Research Fellow and Director of the Institute of Ethnology, has assumed the Presidency of the Association of Asian Social Science Research Council since January 1, 2014. The appointment is for two years (2014 and 2015). The Association of Asian Social Science Research Council was initiated by UNESCO in 1973, to be represented by national academy of social sciences among Asian countries. Academia Sinica joined AASSREC in 2009.  Huang was elected President-Elect of AASSREC in 2011. AASSREE will have its biennial conference in Taipei in 2015 .
