A team lead by Dr. Cheng-Ting Chien at Institute of Molecular Biology (also the coordinator of Neuroscience Program in Academia Sinica) will be awarded for the Taiwan-France Technology Award, together with a French team led by Dr. Angela Giangrande in IGBMC, Strasburgh. Dr. Chien's team studies protein degradation and Dr. Giangrande's team studies glial development. They together study the topic "Degradation of Gcm Protein in Glial Cell Proliferation" which is published in PNAS, USA (2009). This work is important in understanding the mechanism underlying the development of nervous systems and hence the brain function and diseases. With this work and their collaboration, they together have won the Taiwan-France Technology Award (2009). The award ceremony will be held in Institute de France, Academie des Sciences in Paris on Nov. 24, 2009.
