Dr. Ching Chou Fu received his PhD at the Department of Geosciences, National Taiwan University. His research focuses on gas geochemistry, also known as fluid geochemistry. His research and specialty interests can be divided into four sections, which are I) the characteristics and origins of gas geochemistry around the active structural zones, II) the formations and mechanisms of fluid geochemical anomalies before and after an earthquake, III) the research of deep-Earth degassing for exploring the evolution processes from mantle, crust, and atmosphere, and IV) the multidisciplinary observations for earthquake precursor.

After Dr. Fu received his doctoral degree, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Geosciences, National Taiwan University and at the Institute of Earth Sciences of Academia Sinica. He has been dedicated to exploring the origins and properties of gas components in different geological environments and events, and further integrating other existing geoscience data to propose a reasonable evolution model and geological significance. Dr. Fu says that he is honored to become one fellow of the Institute of Earth Sciences. In the future, apart from devoting himself to the research of gas geochemistry, at the same time he will develop and integrate multi-observations, attempt to establish the theoretical model, for earthquake precursor through interdisciplinary research for comprehensive understanding of earthquake processes. Finally, the possibility of earthquake forecasting could then be evaluated.
