Dr. Wen-Ling Lin, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnology, received her Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Göttingen in Germany. Dr. Lin’s research interests span areas ranging from new media and contemporary aboriginal studies to visual anthropology, gender studies, and digital anthropology. She previously served as the president of the Taiwan Association of Visual Ethnography and as the director of the Taiwan International Ethnographic Film Festival and is currently the president of the Taiwan Society for Anthropology and Ethnology (TSAE).

Dr. Lin has long been passionate about visual ethnography, documentaries, and other videography-related work, and she is often invited to serve on the jury at film festivals. In terms of research, Dr. Lin has made decisive inroads in areas such as aboriginal videography, gender minority, and digital culture.

Dr. Lin officially joined the Institute of Ethnology in August 2018. She remarked that it is a great honor to join the ranks of distinguished scholars at the institute; for her, this is a new beginning as well as a challenge and opportunity to expand her research to new levels. She hopes that in the future, she will be able to contribute to the study of anthropology while also increasing public awareness and participation in various topics related to this field.
