American Geophysical Union (AGU), the world’s largest scientific organization in geosciences, selects only a small number of fellows each year to recognize their excellent research achievements and outstanding academic leadership. Academician Sun-Lin Chung, a world-renowned geochemist, is one of the new Fellows this year.

Academician Sun-Lin Chung has made significant contributions to igneous petrogenesis, chemical geodynamics, East-Asian magmatism tectonics. He is currently a Distinguished Research Fellow and the Director of the Institute of Earth Sciences. He was one of the highest cited scientists worldwide in 2016, 2017 and 2019, as well as an elected TWAS member in 2018.

The American Geophysical Union has more than 60,000 professional members. Election as an AGU Fellow is a highly prestigious honor, only one-thousandth of AGU members each year are elected as Fellows. In December this year, AGU will honor the academic visions and outstanding achievements of the new Fellows at the Fall Meeting in San Francisco.
