Dr. Yi-Hsuan Chen received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan. From 2020 to 2023, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University, collaborating with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (NOAA GFDL). Since March 2023, he has joined the Research Center for Environmental Changes as an Assistant Research Fellow.

Dr. Chen’s research interests are to understand cloud and radiation processes in the Earth climate system. He is particularly interested in the boundary layer, convection, and longwave radiation processes, and also how to represent these processes in atmospheric numerical models. His current research at the RCEC aims to improve the simulation of marine low clouds in the Taiwanese Earth System Model (TaiESM), and quantify the associated uncertainties in TaiESM future climate projections.

Dr. Chen is also interested in the history of atmospheric science. He regularly shares history stories on social media and his blog(陳毅軒的大氣遊記), such as biographies of key figures in the field, including Carl-Gustaf Rossby, Syukuro “Suki” Manabe, and Akio Arakawa.
