Dr. Shu-Miaw Chaw and Dr. Chung-Shien Wu at the Biodiversity Research Center have conducted the first systematic and comprehensive investigation of living gymnosperms’ mitochondrial RNA editing. They have demonstrated regains of mitochondrial RNA editing sites and elucidated the underlying editing mechanism. The research results not only unveiled the evolution of RNA-editing sites across gymnosperms but also highlighted the connection between RNA editing site prevalence and PPR protein diversity. The research article was published in The Plant Journal in August 2022.
