Three of the nation's top research institutions —Academia Sinica, the National Health Research Institutes and National Taiwan University — held a joint seminar on September 16, to introduce their recent research outcomes to business and industry. The seminar, which included important discoveries in the fields of biomedical technology, medicine, electronic engineering and information science, aimed to facilitate licensing agreements and cooperation with the private sector.
Research results from over 49 research groups were presented at the seminar, with each group given a 10-minute time slot to explain their latest findings and commercial potential. Representatives from private companies both inside and outside of Taiwan attended.
Research presented by National Taiwan University centered on medical imaging systems, while research presented by the National Health Research Institutes focused on anti-cancer drugs. Researchers from Academia Sinica’s Institutes of Physics, Information Science, Atomic and Molecular Sciences, Cellular and Organismic Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences; and the Research Centers for Applied Sciences and Information Technology Innovation and Agricultural Biotechnology also presented 20 novel findings at the meeting.
