Professor C.-T. James Huang, member of the Academic Advisory Committee of ILAS (Institute of Linguistics, Academia Sinica), received the honor as a Fellow of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA) 2015.
Established in 1924, the LSA has become the major professional society for linguistics in the United States, exclusively dedicated to the advancement of the scientific study of language. It has over 5,000 individual members and welcomes linguists from all sub-disciplines. The LSA Fellows are recognized annually for their "distinguished contributions to the discipline". Since the first 25 LSA Fellows was introduced in 2006, less than 10 members are elected each year (not including retired Officers).
Of the 110 LSA Fellows named since the honor was initiated in 2006, Professor Huang is the first Asian-born Fellow awarded for his outstanding contributions to advancing theoretical linguistic research, nurturing young minds and servicing linguistics communities worldwide.
