To encourage excellent research in the humanities and social sciences, the China Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture provides a yearly grant ranging from US $15,000 to 20,000 (depending on the Foundation’s annual budget) for the Dr. Hu Shih Memorial Chair in Academia Sinica. Applicants must be Associate Research Fellow or above in Academia Sinica, with an area of expertise in the humanities and social sciences. The grantee shall deliver the Memorial Lecture in 2014 in honor of former President Hu Shih.
Applications can be submitted directly by applicants or through research institutes; the Dr. Hu Shih Memorial Chair Committee can also make recommendations. All directors of the institutes and research centers in the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences are now invited to recommend candidates (or encourage research fellows to apply) for the Dr. Hu Shih Memorial Chair.
Each application must include the most-updated curriculum vitae, a list of academic publications, a research plan, three representative publications and a list of reviewers to be avoided. Applicants may not use the same research proposal to apply for another program. If for some special reasons the same research proposal must be used, a detailed explanation shall be provided. Please submit your application materials to the Academic Affairs Office by January 7, 2014. For further information and enquiries, please contact Ms. Chao (Tel: 2789-8022).
