Academia Sinica’s International Affairs Office (IAO) officially opened on March 1, 2007. The mission of the IAO is to manage international academic exchange, collaboration and conferences at the international level, as well as the Academia Sinica’s Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP).
The IAO is headed by Dr. Sue Lin-Chao, a Research Fellow at Academia Sinica’s Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB). Dr. Lin-Chao earned her Doctoral degree from the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Texas-Dallas in 1987 and completed her Post-doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Genetics at the Stanford University School of Medicine (1987-2000). Her research focuses on RNA decay, bacterial cell growth and mammalian growth arrest genes. Dr. Lin-Chao has been in charge of the TIGP program for many years and has also served as the deputy Director of the IMB, Coordinator of the Molecular and Cell Biology of International Graduate Program, the Chief of Biosafety at Academia Sinica, and the Coordinator of the Life Science Community in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for the National Science Council. Enhanced by Dr. Lin-Chao’s rich experience in international affairs and active leadership, the IAO is proud to be able to provide efficient and high quality service to its international faculty, students and visitors. The IAO consists of three sections: 1. Education: focusing on the management of Academia Sinica’s Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) 2. Academic Services: focusing on the management of the everyday activities of Academia Sinica’s foreign faculty and students 3. Academic Exchange and Collaboration: focusing on collaboration and cooperation with international organizations, international award nominations, and exchange programs for scholars, etc.
