Academia Sinica announced its 2010 list of candidates for Academician on 17 April 2010. The list is comprised of 49 candidates, of which a maximum of 30 will be elected this July.
The Academicians are full members of the Academy and make up the Convocation of Academia Sinica. They are elected biennially. The Convocation formulates academic research policies.
Academia Sinica’s Academicians are grouped into three divisions, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences. A maximum of 10 new Academicians can be elected to each of the three divisions at each biennial election. The title of Academician is an honorary lifetime privilege.
