Applications for the 2013 Academia Sinica Thematic Research Program are now being accepted (Deadline: October 31, 2011)
 

Applications for the 2013 Thematic Research Program will be accepted from September 1 to October 31, 2011. All applications are processed on-line through the Academic On-Line Service System. Applicants should submit all application documents of all application documents together with an official document issued by the host institute, preparatory office or research center to the Academic Affairs Office by November 3, 2011. 

The first category grants are for the unsolicited integrated research program. Priority will be given to innovative integrated research projects that are interdisciplinary and span across a range of fields and subjects.

The second category grants are for the solicited research program related to national priority research themes. PIs must have joined the symposiums held on July 22 and August 24, and the proposed project should be approved by the Review Committee; Eligible candidates can then apply for the grants via the on-line system. The review results and further details will be released in mid-September.

Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. Co-authored projects will also be accepted so as to promote innovative interdisciplinary collaboration. Application results will be announced in the middle of 2012, and projects should start from January 1, 2013. Applicants can at most execute 2 programs funded by the Thematic Research Programs at Academia Sinica from 2013 to 2015.

Project directors must be full-time employees of Academia Sinica at the level of Assistant Research Fellow or above; or faculty from universities joining the Academia Sinica Degree Program, who shall be at the level of Assistant Professor or above, and jointly-appointed by Academia Sinica, according to the faculty list provided by the Executive Committee of the Academia Sinica Degree Program. Furthermore, in order to carry out close academic cooperation between AS research fellows and the universities joining the Degree Program, the project must have an AS research fellow as project co-director.
