Academia Sinica, Taiwan, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation. The initial appointment is for a period of three years (renewable for a second term).
Academia Sinica is the pre-eminent academic institution in Taiwan. It is devoted to basic and applied research in mathematical and physical sciences, life sciences, and humanities and social sciences. The Academy has been positioning itself to be a world-class research institution.
The Research Center for Information Technology Innovation is a newly formed research center in Academia Sinica. Its mission is to carry out interdisciplinary and innovative research in information technology and its applications. The Center will focus on new opportunities in information technology, multidisciplinary applications, and information technology enabled services. As other research centers in Academia Sinica, this Center will have number of full-time research fellows, postdoctoral research fellows and research assistants.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree, a distinguished record of academic scholarship, and diverse experience in research and professional service. He/she is expected to pursue a vigorous research program consistent to the mission of the Center. Resources will be available to support his/her research program. Being the founding Director for the Center, the successful candidate will be expected to develop new research thrusts, recruit outstanding faculty, as well as promote and provide intellectual leadership in information technology and applications for Taiwan. We are seeking a recognized intellectual leader with a global perspective and a compelling vision of the future of information technology and related applications and services; outstanding communication, administrative and managerial skills; demonstrated record of launching innovative research programs through activities that span program formulation, external funding, execution, and delivery; and experience in motivating young scientists towards pursuing excellence in scientific and engineering research.
