On June 13, 2009, Academician Ovid J. L. Tzeng was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Science degree by National Chengchi University for his academic and educational achievements.
Academician Tzeng is an alumnus of Chengchi University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, and then he got his doctorate in cognitive psychology from the Pennsylvania State University in USA. His specialties are on Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience Linguistics, Memory, Attention and Reading Course. Academician Tzeng has great contribution to the development of contemporary psychology, and has tirelessly conducted research, primarily in the area of identification function of language in early development, and has published copiously in top international journals. Academician Tzeng encouraged his fellow NCCU alumni to continue to pursue research in the human sciences, where NCCU is already well-established. He has promoted cooperative research projects among different institutions and between the humanities and social sciences and the natural sciences.
Academician Tzeng has received the National Academic Award of the Ministry of Education; Scientific Contribution Award, California Science Project; Distinguished Professor, National Science Council; Outstanding Essay Award, National Science Council; Corporate Development Foundation Award for Outstanding Fellows; Service Award, Chinese Institute of Engineers; 7th Outstanding Achievement Award, Fei Tao Fei Honor Society; Fellow of American Psychological Society; Member of the Committee on Freedom and Responsibility in the Conduct of Science, International Council for Science.
