Dr. Chi-Huey Wong, President of Academia Sinica was selected to receive this year’s Nikkei Asia Prize for Science, Technology and Innovation. He was recognized for his research in glycochemistry that has opened the way for the development of vaccines and medicines, especially in areas related to cancer, infectious and immunological diseases, according to the news released by Nihon Keizai Shimbun in Tokyo on May 4.
The award ceremony will be held on May 23 at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo where Dr. Wong will receive the prize. He has also been invited to deliver a speech at the conference on “The Future of Asia” on May 24.
The Nikkei Prize was established by Nihon Keizai Shimbun in 1996 to recognize the achievements of individuals or organizations in Asia that have improved the lives of people in Asia in three areas: regional growth; science, technology and innovation; and culture.
