Applications for the 2012 Thematic Research Programs are being accepted from September 1 to November 1, 2010. All applications should be completed on-line by the Program Director through the Academic On-Line Service System. The host Institute (Preparatory Office or Research Center) should submit a list of all application materials together with the official application documents to the Academic Affairs Office by November 4, 2010.
The 1st category grants are for unsolicited integrated research programs. Priority will be given to innovative integrated research projects that are interdisciplinary and span across a range of fields and subjects.
The 2nd category grants are for solicited research programs related to national priority research themes, e.g. global changes, biotechnology and drug development, green energy, etc.
Application results will be announced in the middle of 2011, and the projects shall start from January 1, 2012.
Applicants can at most execute 2 programs funded by the Thematic Research Programs at Academia Sinica from 2012 to 2014. Approved research projects that involve experiments with biological material and genetic engineering, animals, and human subjects must supply a letter of consent from the relevant institute.
Program directors can provide a list of recommended reviewers and (or) a list of people with conflicts of interests through the online system by the application deadline. The recommended review list must abide by the Academia Sinica rules on conflicts of interests for reviewers.
