Academicians and Distinguished Research Fellows Fan-Sen Wang, Shie-Ming Peng, and Chien-Jen Chen have been appointed as Vice Presidents of Academia Sinica, effective October 19, 2011.

Director Fu-Tong Liu, Distinguished Research Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, is going to the United States for academic affairs from October 18-31, 2011. During his absence, Deputy Director Cathy S.-J. Fann is the acting director.

        Director Shu-min Huang, Distinguished Research Fellow of the Institute of Ethnology, will go to China for academic affairs from October 30 to November 1, 2011. During his absence, Deputy Director Hsun Chang will be the acting director.
