Academia Sinica hold a certificate conferral ceremony for this year’s graduates of the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) on December 23, 2014. This year there are a total of 45 graduates, who received the TIGP Certificate from Academia Sinica Vice President and TIGP Director Dr. Yu Wang at the ceremony.
Among the graduates, 27 students are from Taiwan, 4 from India, 2 from Thailand, 2 from Iraq, 1 from Vietnam, 1 from Malaysia, 1 from Canada, 1 from Iran, 1 from Indonesia, 1 from Costa Rica, 1 from Czech Republic, 1 from Ethiopia, 1 from Syria and 1 from Israel. Including this year’s graduates, a total 168 students have completed the TIGP program’s rigorous requirements and received TIGP certificates to date. Each year, many students in the programs publish papers in top international scholarly journals and many alumni go on to take up positions in world-renowned institutions.
Launched in 2002, the TIGP program integrates the first-class facilities and top-notch faculty available at Academia Sinica into a learning environment where English is the first language. The program currently has 460 students enrolled in ten Ph.D. programs. Many of the students enrolled in TIGP come from overseas (currently hailing from 44 countries). TIGP is run by Academia Sinica in collaboration with Taiwan’s top research universities: National Tsing Hua University, National Taiwan University, National Central University, National Chung Hsing University, National Chiao Tung University, National Defense Medical Center, National Yang-Ming University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Cheng Kung University and National Chengchi University. The certificate conferred by the Academy is given in addition to the diploma conferred by the collaborating university.
