Time:Friday, July 28, 2017 at 19:00 (Admission time starts at 18:30) Venue: 1F Auditorium, Center of Academic Activities, Academia Sinica Performer: Taipei Puppet Theater Admission: Free Under the Taiwanese puppet master Li Tian-Lu’s enlightenment, being apprenticed by two masters Chen Shi-Huang and Li Chuan-Tsan, in order to keep the performing skills, quality of traditional puppet art and create the international arena for Taiwanese puppet shows, Taipei Puppet Theater was founded in 2010. Adapted from the “Journey to the West,” a famous Chinese novel, the show describes the main character Sun Wukong (the Monkey King) in search of a weapon, he travels to the Crystal Palace in Eastern Sea and takes away the Golden-banded staff, a treasure from the dragon-king of the Eastern Ocean, triggering a fierce war. The team strives to showcase the diversity of puppet theatre with varied features. Their carefully orchestrated performances have attracted a very broad audience in Taiwan. Thus the show could be extraordinary and worth expecting.
