Academician Wen-Hsiung Li received the 2008 HUGO/Chen Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Human Genetic and Genomic Research in September.
This Award, being bestowed for the first time this year, is for scientists who are actively engaged in human genetic and genomic research and working in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Award is granted by the Chens’ Foundation. The selection and award process are administered by the Human Genome Organization (HUGO), and only scientists who are members of HUGO are eligible. HUGO is an international organization formally established in 1990 fostering collaboration between genome scientists around the world. The Organization is closely associated with the Human Genome Project to study the human genome.
