The 2018 Academia Sinica Thematic Research Program is now accepting applications through March 31, 2017. All applications should be completed at the Academia Sinica On-Line Service System. 1. The thematic program projects should meet the mid-term and long-term research development goals of Academic Sinica (AS). Final assessments of the applications will be announced in September 2017, and selected projects will commence on January 1, 2018 upon receipt of budget plan approvals by legislation. The project directors and sub-project principal investigators (PIs) should sign an agreement before the project starts. 2. Each integrated project should contain at least three sub-projects. At least one third (1/3) of the sub-project PIs should be full-time employees of AS. To facilitate academic collaboration between AS and partner universities of the Academia Sinica Degree Program (ASDP), faculty members who are jointly appointed by AS for ASDP may serve to be project directors provided that AS research fellows join the project as co-PIs. 3. Applicants must comply with the following regulations. Any noncompliance of the applicant or project proposal with fewer than three sub-projects will render the application rejected and thus not reviewed. (1) AS research fellows who serve as a PI or co-PI of an AS funded project from the Thematic Research Program, Sustainability Science Research Program and Innovative Translational Agricultural Research Program may carry out a maximum of two projects per year. (2) Current awardees of Academia Sinica Investigator Award may carry out one more project funded by AS, but may not serve as a project director or co-PI of an integrated project. (3) Current awardees of Career Development Award may not execute any other project funded by AS in the first four years of the project, but may carry out one more project funded by AS in the fifth year on condition that they do not serve as a project director or co-PI of an integrated project. (4) A project proposal may not be submitted to AS and other funding agencies at the same time. 4. All applications will be processed on-line. Please go to the homepage of AS or http://db3n2u.sinica.edu.tw/~textdb/program/index.php. Applicants should refer to “Guidelines for Applications for Funding from the Thematic Research Program, Academia Sinica,” complete the on-line application, and make sure all needed materials are uploaded to the Academia Sinica On-Line Service System in time. For more details, refer to the official document (No. 1060500298) released on January 12, 2017. 5.
