There are a total of 25 applications for the 2008 Thematic Project (12 from Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, 9 from Division of Life Sciences, 4 from Division of Humanities and Social Sciences). The applications require a budget of NT$273,758,000 in total (NT$163,444,000 for Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, NT$90,070,000 for Division of Life Sciences, NT$20,244,000 for Division of Humanities and Social Sciences).

 Of all the applications, 13 were approved in the meetings of Second-round Review and Budget Review, including 5 from Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, 5 from Division of Life Sciences, and 3 from Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. The total approved budget amounts to NT$100,427,000 (NT$59,072,000 for Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, NT$32,658,000 for Division of Life Sciences, NT$8,697,000 for Division of Humanities and Social Sciences).
