Four Scholars Receive 4th Academia Sinica Scholarly Monograph Award in the Humanities and Social Sciences |

The 4th Academia Sinica Scholarly Monograph Award ceremony was held today in the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation. Awardees were Dr. Pei-Feng Chen, Research Fellow at the Institute of Taiwan History; Dr. Wen-Chin Chang, Research Fellow at the Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Sean Hsiang-lin Lei, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Modern History; and Dr. Yen-Lin Chung, Assistant Professor at the Graduate Institute of East Asian Studies, College of International Affairs, National Chengchi University. The four winning monographs cover research into the history of the development of Chinese language in Taiwan in the Japanese colonial period, Yunnanese Chinese migrants of Burma, the transformation of Chinese medicine in modern Chinese history, and the political role of Deng Xiaoping as the Chinese Communist Party General Secretary from 1956 to 1966 and his influence afterward. The recipients each received a certificate and a cash prize of NT$600,000. This year, a total of 60 applications for the award were received from a wide range of fields. All submissions underwent a stringent review procedure of the highest standard. During the ceremony, the four winners briefly presented their winning publications. The ceremony was hosted by Vice President Fan-Sen Wang.
