Academia Sinica was pleased to be informed on Dec. 25, 2007 that Dr. Chun-Hung Lin, a young Research Fellow of the Institute of Biological Chemistry at Academia Sinica, becomes one of the Top 10 People with potential in Taiwan 2008. The 4th yearly recruit activity was held by the largest news provider in Taiwan the Central News Agency. The main goal is to encourage young people under age 40 to present with all respect to flourish their mother land Taiwan.
Dr. Chun-Hung Lin, Research Fellow of the Institute of Biological Chemistry at Academia Sinica, currently turned into 40 years old. He was born at Taipei, Taiwan. His research expertise and interest include (1) the relationship between diseases and the corresponding glycol-enzymes; (2) design, synthesis and evaluation of disease-related enzyme inhibitors; (3) Chemical and enzymatic synthesis of biologically important carbohydrate molecules. Dr. Lin received a number of prestigious awards, such as 2006 excellent young scholar from Chemical Society at Taipei, 2005 Mentor Award from University of California at San Diego. He is also a co-recipient of the 2000 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award honoring Prof. Chi-Huey Wong.
After receiving the good news, Dr. Lin expressed his gratitude to the people who helped and have been helping him for these years. He gave special thanks to his Ph.D. advisor President Chi- Huey Wong, who brought him to interesting and challenging academic research. Dr. Lin is also grateful to his colleagues at the Institute of Biological Chemistry, in particular the current and former directors and also appreciates the strongest support from his family over the years.
