Academicians Ding-Shinn Chen, Chun-Yen Chang and Tien T. Tsong are awarded the Presidential Science Prize, 2007, on the fields of Life Sciences, Applied Sciences and Mathematical and Physical Sciences, respectively. The award presentation ceremony will be presided by President Chen Shui-Bian at 17:00, Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Presidential Office. Each of the winners will be granted a monetary award and a plaque.
The Presidential Science Prize symbolizes the highest honor for academic research in Taiwan. The Prize, first presented in 2001, is conferred once every two years, with no more than four winners on each occasion. Its purpose is to recognize outstanding domestic researchers in the fields of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, and Applied Sciences, thereby raising Taiwan’s international scientific position through their accomplishments. Academicians Juei-Low Sung, Chang-Shou Lin, Kopin Liu, Kwo- Ray Chu, Cyrus C. Y. Chu, Yih-Hsing Pao, Lou-Chuang Lee and Chien-Jen Chen had been winners of the Presidential Science Prize.
