 Language and Linguistics, a journal published by the Institute of Linguistics at Academia Sinica, received the “2017 Taiwan’s Most Influential Humanities and Social Science Journal Awards” for excellence in journal performance from National Central Library In order to promote the importance of scholarly communication and to set a good example, National Central Library announced and commended the most influential publishers of academic journals in Taiwan on March 31, 2017, based on the statistical data of “Taiwan Citation Index-Humanities and Social Sciences”, “National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertation in Taiwan”, and “Index to Taiwan Periodical Literature System” databases.
Language and Linguistics is an academic publication established by the Institute of Linguistics in 2000. It contains research in general and theoretical linguistics on the languages of East Asia and the Pacific region, including Sino-Tibetan, Austronesian, and the Austroasiatic and Altaic language families. The journal serves as an open venue and service platform for innovative original research to the linguistics community. With rigorous review process, it has been widely recognized as one of the best international linguistics journals for many years. It has also been indexed into many prominent research databases including Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI), and THCI Core since 2007.
To increase international citation rates and reputation, the Institute of Linguistics had been cooperated with a British publisher SAGE and published the journal worldwide from 2014 to 2016. In 2017, Language and Linguistics started a partnership with John Benjamins Publishing Company, one of the leading publishers in the field of language and linguistics, to increase subscription rates and expand academic influence of the journal. The journal will keep seeking to release professional and insightful research in the future.
