Ms. Pei-Chun Hsu, research assistant of the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA) and the Theoretical Institute for Advanced Research in Astrophysics (TIARA), obtained the “Editor Award” of the Journal of Taipei Astronomical Museum (JTAM) as the first winner. The Certificate and Prize were awarded to her on the occasion of the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Astronomical Society (Taiwan) (CAST), held on June 1 to 3, 2007 at National Cheng Kung University. JTAM, the only academic astronomical journal in Taiwan, publishes an annual research results of all fields in astronomy and astrophysics. With support from CAST, JTAM has established an "Editor Award" for authors without PhD degree, whose articles are among the best in that issue. The awarded paper by Ms. Hsu is titled “Particle Acceleration in Pulsar Magnetospheres”, its coauthors are Dr. Kouichi Hirotani, Visiting Scholar of ASIAA, and Dr. Hsiang-Kuang Chang, the Vice-Chair of the Department of Physics and Professor of the Institute of Astronomy, National Tsing Hua University.
Ms. Hsu has been admitted to the graduate program of University of California, San Diego and will go to US in August to pursue her PhD degree.
