This year’s attendees include 6 graduates from the Bioinformatics program, 5 graduates each from the Nano Science and Technology program and the Molecular Medicine program, 3 graduates from the Molecular and Cell Biology program, 2 graduates each from the Chemical Biology and Molecular Biophysics program and the Molecular Science and Technology program, and 1 graduate each from the Molecular and Biological Agricultural Sciences program and the Biodiversity program. Launched in 2002, the TIGP program integrates cutting-edge interdisciplinary research topics, first-class facilities, top-notch faculty and the multi-cultural environment available at Academia Sinica into a learning environment where English is the first language. Each year, many students in the programs publish research papers in top international scholarly journals and many alumni go on to take up positions in world-renowned institutions. Including this year’s graduates, a total of 320 students have completed the TIGP program’s rigorous requirements and received TIGP certificates to date. The program currently has 571 students enrolled in 12 Ph.D. programs. Many of the students enrolled in TIGP come from overseas (currently hailing from 49 countries). TIGP is also run by Academia Sinica in collaboration with Taiwan’s top research universities: National Tsing Hua University, National Taiwan University, National Central University, National Chung Hsing University, National Chiao Tung University, National Defense Medical Center, National Yang-Ming University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Cheng Kung University and National Chengchi University. The certificate conferred by Academia Sinica is given in addition to the diploma conferred by the collaborating university.
