Nominations for 2009 Li Foundation Heritage Prize are open till February 10, 2009
 

The Li Foundation, founded in 1944 by Kuo Ching Li and his four brothers of the Wah Chang Corporation, was incorporated in the state of New York to promote friendly relations between the United States and R.O.C. The Foundation invites academic institutions in the United States and R.O.C. to participate in a sister relationship to sponsor a student or scholar. The Heritage Prize encourages the students to return to Taiwan.

Qualifications:

1.          Candidates must have returned to Academia Sinica from U.S. in 2008, or will return shortly.

2.          There is no age limit, but preference is given to young scholars under the age of 40.

3.          Candidates must have made outstanding contributions to academic research in the fields of sciences or humanities.

4.          The Academic Advisory Committee will recommend the most qualified nominees to the President of Academia Sinica for final selection of three candidates.

Documents required:

1.          Candidate must provide the following information: name, age, CV, the date of his/her returning to Academia Sinica, research field, and materials relevant to his/her academic achievements. There is no form to fill in.

2.          A letter of recommendation (in Chinese and English) from the Institute, Preparatory Office, or Research Center.

3.          A letter of recommendation from the candidate's dissertation advisor or colleague.

The deadline for applications is February 10, 2009. Please send five copies of the above-mentioned materials to the Planning and Activities Division of the Secretariat Office. If there is any question, please contact Ms. Chumei Wang at (02)2789-9875.
