Congratulations to Dr. Jungwon JIN, Associate Research Fellow of Academia Sinica’s Institute of Taiwan History, and Dr. Jimmy Chia-Shin Hsu, Associate Research Professor of Academia Sinica’s Institutum Iurisprudentiae, on being selected as the 2014-2015 Harvard Yenching Visiting Scholars Dr. Jungwon JIN, Associate Research Fellow of the Institute of Taiwan History and Dr. Jimmy Chia-Shin Hsu, Associate Research Professor of the Institutum Iurisprudentiae at Academia Sinica have been selected as the 2016–2017 Harvard Yenching Visiting Scholars. The Visiting Scholars Program offers faculty the opportunity to conduct ten months of research at Harvard University and provides a living stipend. Dr. Jin’s research focuses on the transnational history of Japanese Empire. The title of her research proposal for the visiting scholar program is “Diaspora of the Under-privileged Women within the Empire: Following the History of the prostitution in the Pescadores Islands during the Japanese Rule (1895-1945).” Dr. Hsu’s research focuses on legal philosophy, philosophy of punishment, and constitutional theory. The research that he plans to pursue at Harvard is “Dignity, Life, and Capital Punishment”.
