Dr. Tang K. Tang, Distinguished Research Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at Academia Sinica, has received the 24st Wang Min-Ning Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to the development of medical science and technology to improve the health of people in Taiwan. Dr. Tang has resolved the roles of three human microcephaly proteins, CPAP, STIL, and CEP135 in centriole duplication and proposed that interference in this process may cause primary microcephaly in humans. This finding may promote neural stem cell research and explore how the human brain develops in the future.
