Taipei Chamber Singers

Having been established for 15 years, TCS has always been devoted to chamber music with its scale of 24 to 30 performers. For years, TCS has been endeavoring to become "the leading brand name in contemporary choral music." In recent years, TCS has successively won international music awards in Europe and has been invited to perform at major international music festivals. TCS has shown the world its power of pursuing perfection of contemporary choral music that has been accumulated for the past 15 years.

In 2005, TCS won the gold medal in both Chamber Music and Folk Music in the 4th International Johannes Brahms Choir Competition. In 2006, TCS won the championship in Béla Bartók 22nd International Choir Competition. In 2007, TCS was invited by ISCM and ACL to perform avant-garde pieces by musicians and composers from more than 50 countries in 2007 World Music Days Hong Kong. Out of hundreds of choirs, TCS was listed as one of the best 24 vocal groups in the world and was invited by IFCM to perform three sets of contemporary choral music in the 8th World Symposium on Choral Music 2008 in Copenhagen. As well, TCS received the honor of being invited to present the Danish composer Per Skriver’s new composition.

Most Magnificent Combination Ever -Music, Dance and Unchained Latin Colors

Always striving for perfection in contemporary choral music, TCS in 2009 will present fans in Taiwan with "Latin Rhapsody" as a feast composed of vocal power and body passion.

In its performance circuit of "Latin Rhapsody" around Taiwan, TCS will introduce works by quite a few contemporary Latin music masters, such as the Venezuelan composer Alberto Grau's "Confitemini Domino," "Stabat Mater," the ecologically conscious "Kasar Mie La Gaji." and "La Cucaracha," which was inspired by Mexican pop music; the Argentinian composer Oscar Escalada's Latin dance music, which will be accompanied with dance in the performance; the Brazilian composer Antonio Estéves's highly affective "Mata del anima sola"; the Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara's "Suite de Lorca," based on a story from the Spanish poet Lorca's work. Through this assemblage of the world's contemporary Latin music masters' works, TCS will please local audiences' ears with their refreshing interpretation of novel music.

To render the unlimited affection rooted in Latin music, TCS will add dance to their performances. Passionate singings and dancing that catches the eye produces a fascinating total show highlighting both visual and acoustic.
