A research team led by Dr. Su-May Yu in the Institute of Molecular Biology actively participates the International C4 Rice project supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The C4 rice research is a long\u2010term scientific endeavor that seeks to help secure food for majority of the world’s population. The project seeks to create “C4 rice” \u2013 rice with a built-in \u201cfuel injector\u201d to better convert sunlight into grains, potentially resulting in higher yield while using less water and nutrients.<\/p>\n
