Academia Sinica, Taiwan, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center (ABRC). The initial appointment is for a period of three years renewable for a second term, and will also carry the title of Research Fellow or Distinguished Research Fellow.

Academia Sinica is a leading academic research institution in Taiwan. It is devoted to basic and applied research in life sciences, chemistry, mathematics, physics, as well as humanities and social sciences. The ABRC was established to foster a multidisciplinary approach to research, bringing constant innovations to the development of biotechnology industry that builds on those features unique to Taiwan and best in the world. The ABRC currently consists of 19 laboratories pursuing two major research themes, Integrative Plant Stress Biology and Herbal Medicine Research, with additional projects on Molecular Vaccine Technology and Enzyme Biotechnology. Interested candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, outstanding research accomplishments, demonstrated leadership ability, and excellent communication skills. Besides pursuing a rigorous research program at ABRC, the successful candidate is expected to build on the existing strengths of ABRC to develop new research thrusts, and provide intellectual leadership in relevant basic and applied agricultural biotechnology in Taiwan.
