  Dr. Mikiko Kainuma is an internationally renowned expert in climate policy. She served as Project Leader of Climate Policy Assessment Project at Center for Global Environmental Research (CGER), National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan for decades. She has represented Japan to participate in several key international collaboration research projects, such as Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project (DDPP). She is a lead author for numerous indispensable climate policy reports. Since 1990, Dr. Kainuma has engaged in the development of Asia-Pacific Integrated Model (AIM), which is used to assess policy options for the Asian-Pacific region in mitigating global warming. Dr. Kainuma will share her insights on Japan’s research on deep decarbonization policy and the sciences behind it.
