Do Research in Excellent Company: Apply for a Humboldt Research Fellowship

Dr. Enno Aufderheide, the Secretary General of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, visited Academia Sinica and met with President Liao on March 13, 2017. Dr. Aufderheide invites all the research fellows, post-doctoral fellows and graduating TIGP Ph.D. students of Academia Sinica to apply for the Humboldt Research Fellowship and go to Germany doing long-term research.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany. To this end, it grants more than 700 research fellowships and research awards annually. These allow academics from all over the world to come to Germany to work on a research question they have chosen themselves together with a host and collaborative partner.
Taiwanese researchers with a doctoral degree from all disciplines can apply for the Humboldt Research Fellowship that allows them to carry out long-term research (6-24 months) at a German university or research institution. Applications should be submitted by 30 April, 31 August or 31 December for them to be considered in one of the three selection committee meetings each year.
The Humboldt Foundation has sponsored 117 research fellows from Taiwan to date and 6 Taiwanese researchers have received a research award. "Once a Humboldtian, always a Humboldtian:" the Humboldt Foundation supports their fellows’ scientific development throughout their lifetime with its portfolio of alumni sponsorship opportunities. The foundation’s network embraces well over 28,000 Humboldtians in more than 140 countries worldwide - including 54 Nobel Prize winners.
